RFDS AND ISUZU UTE
200,000KM FOR A WORTHY CAUSE.
Helping the Royal Flying Doctor Service reach more communities, one kilometer at a time.
Across regional and remote Australia, access to healthcare ca look very different from what is does in the city. For many communities, the Royal Flying Doctor (RFDS) plays a vital role in brining medical care to people who need it, no matter how far away they live.
Now, the partnership between Isuzu UTE Australia and the RFDS has reached an impressive milestone, with the RFDS Aeromedical Simulator Program travelling more than 200,000 kilometers across Australia.
Making a difference beyond the city. The RFDS provides much more than emergency medical flights. In Queensland, its services include aeromedical retrievals, primary healthcare, telehealth, mental health support and oral health services for regional, rural and remote communities.
According to the RFDS Queensland website, its emergency retrieval service operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, helping deliver essential care accorss the state.
It's work that makes a real difference to people living beyond major centers, where accessing healthcare can involve significant travel and logistical challenges. To find out more about the RFDS and the services it provides visit Royal Flying Doctor Services Queensland website.
Taking the experience to more Australians
Since 2023, Isuzu UTE Australia has supported the RFDS Aeromedical Simulator Program as its Major National Partner. The program features a full-scale replica aircraft experience, giving people a closer look at what happens during aeromedical retrievals and helping them understand the important work involved in delivering care to remote communities.
Rather than asking people to come to the expeience, the RFDS takes it to them, visiting schools, community events and towns across the country.
The results speak for them selves, Th program has now:
- Travelled more than 200,000 kilometers across Australia.
- Visited more than 270 towns.
- Attended over 620 events.
- Engaged approximately 2.8 million Australians through community activities with further reach anticipated in 2026.
These kilometers represent more than distance travelled. They reflect the communities reached, the people engaged and the opportunity to build a greater understanding of RFDS and it's work.
The Isuzu D-MAX helping get the job done
Getting the Aeromedical Simulator to communities across Australia takes a vehicle ready for long distances, varied terrain and the demands of towing.
That's where the Isuzu D-MAX fleet comes in, helping transport the simulator to locations ranging from busy regional centers to isolated outback towns, including challenging terrain in the Simpson Desert.
Queensland's D-MAX has led the distance travelled, clocking up 66,190kilometres followed by Victoria at 64,689 kilometers, highlighting the scale of the program across the country.
It's a practical example of how the D-MAX is being used beyond everyday work and weekend adventures, supporting a program that helps connect Australians woth an important part of our healthcare system.
